Shades of America
Concept / Spirit:
Shades of America is a movement for the people of America, who believe change comes as a result of knowledge. Knowledge is the process of becoming aware, as one becomes aware in a multitude of forms, e.g. sight, sound, emotional states, etc; different shades are revealed and truth comes into focus.
This movement has one goal only: to provide a glimpse at some hard truths that define America, and the people of America, as a result of cultural forces. Shades of America is an example of artist’s taking control of their own destiny by cutting out the Corp. beasts from the picture. The efforts of this project are made as transparent as possible. It is the hope of 180 Films that in the near future more artists take a bold step. We believe others can drive their ideas full steam ahead and shape America into something much more harmonise with itself, other nations, and the rest of our world.
Shades of America reveals hard truths that define and channel the American way of life. It begins with a look at the past; realities that have been planted from the start of this country. Only now have these truths had time to grow to critical levels effecting not just the American people. It begins with the hard acceptance of some American realities, Excess and Murder all driven by perpetuated Fear. Shades of America focuses on the individual effects of living a life under such policies. How does living in America drive one to any or all three realities?
What is the price for living the American life? How does the concept of war grow beyond just annexing land from different countries? War as a tool, is a campaign mechanism that extends on American soil also, grinding up its own citizens in the American beast. All Americans feel the capitalistic crawls pin their lives down, day to day, for this giant machine. Shades of America reflects War as an industry, all the way from the blood on the battlefield, Corp. labor Camps like Haiti, Domestic campaigns like the War on Drugs, and finally the emptiness and hatred that infects the ruling class to pursue such ways of life. No one is immune to the grasps of the American war machine, inevitability everyone is ground up as they plunge into the maw.
Shades of America concludes with a hopeful glimpse of some future. The American Renaissance a time when creativity on a massive scale is the normal condition for all Americans, rather it be a musician or a landscaper. It is a time when independent artists of all kinds rally the masses for social change using words as knowledge, balance, and respect. A time when Americans are encouraged to think creatively to heal our world from a different set of parameters, besides to profit. It will be a time for all Americans to have the freedom to experience a different kind of life. A time of growth and prosperity reflecting out in abundance.
